We're doing this as part of our plan to reboot the Queensland economy, support Queensland businesses and keep Queenslanders in jobs.

But it's also crucially important that we continue to keep our state safe from COVID-19.

That's why any player or AFL staff member who comes to Queensland from a COVID-19 hotspot is subject to the exact same requirements as anyone else.

The AFL’s Return to Play Protocol contains strict quarantine and biosecurity measures to ensure the safe continuation of the AFL season.

All arrivals are in quarantine for 14 days at the AFL exclusive use quarantine hotel.

The costs of the AFL this hotel are being borne by the AFL - not the government.

The arrivals are not in contact with any persons from the AFL who are already in Queensland. This ensures that existing bubbles are not contaminated by the new arrivals.

Persons will only be released from quarantine if they have negative COVID-19 tests and have not breached the quarantine requirements.

People can only enter the existing AFL bubble after completing 14 days of quarantine. All players, staff and officials undergo scheduled COVID-19 testing during their time in quarantine.

The local Public Health Unit will monitor compliance with the quarantine arrangements throughout the quarantine period.

Any breach of the protocol may also be a breach of the Queensland Public Health Directions, for which there is a penalty of a fine or 6 months imprisonment.
